Vision Forum Giveaway

Saw this blog post about a Vision Forum Give away.

We have bought the boys several items from VF.  The boys especially my oldest loved the catalog when he was younger.  We bought him just about every G. A. Henty book they had available a few years back.  He still enjoys reading them.

Vision Forum has Christian books and lots of toys, gadgets and dress ups that are perfect for boys.  They have other stuff to that others may find interesting too.

Check out the blog and Vision Forum

Fluffy Yellow Cake

I made this a couple of times, ALL IN UGANDA I think.

Fluffy Yellow Cake

Cream throughly
3/4 Cup soft shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar

add, beating until fluffy
3 egg yolks,
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp butter flavoring-not sure you can buy this any more, I may use butter for some of the shortening

Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk
2 1/4 cups flour or cake flour- HA I bet I used cake flour in the cake in Uganda,
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 cup thick sour milk or buttermilk *

fold in gently
3 egg whites, stiffly beaten

Pour into 2 greased and floured 9 inch pans or a 9x 13 pan and bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. *(May use sweet milk but omit soda and increase baking poweder to 3 tsp instead.)

I used cake flour I'm sure cause Oscar is the one who went to the store for flour and other things I'm sure and he picked up the cake flour, and a big box at that. EEEK things were more expensive there too. Oh well we made some fun things while it lasted, including Nilla Wafers, which is what I missed. Don't know if I still have the reciepe for that though.

Woman Cave

The woman cave has been just this side of being on the hoarders show. What a disaster. It is a catch all room. But so is Dh's office. Hard to believe that we came back from Uganda with only about 30-40 boxes of stuff, and then some things from the storage unit.

We have gotten rid of stuff. You would have thought it wold have been easier having gotten rid of almost every thing we owned once to go to Uganda. Oh well it is back.

I feel like this room is like Pig Pen. I can clean it up and then turn around and it is a mess. I've worked on it on and off this weekend. I had all the tutoring boxes in this room. I need to get the stuff I'm not using right now and get it packed up and out of this room. And the boxes shipped back to the tutoring company.

Then I need to retackle the desk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Joining the blogging world

Well my college boy started a blog so I thought I'd try my hand at blogging too. He is a much better writer though. My deep well child with so much to say.

Me I have little to say, although the boys will beg to differ. They think I have way to much to say. Sadly they only hear the "wah, wah wah, wa Wah."

We shall see what happens here.

For now my life is changing. College boy is in his junior year and swimmer boy is a sophomore in high school. They are growing up and soon too soon there will be no children for me to watch after and teach. So the changing times is what will I do next with my life.

We would love to go back to Africa. Will that happen, I have no idea.
